Welcome 2017!

Off to hike Patagonia

A new year… a fresh start.
Still, I can’t help but look back on 2016 with gratitude for the many things that happened… some good, some not so good, but since I choose to focus on the GOOD (most of the time, anyway!) I’m thinking about the many ‘firsts’ that I accomplished. I’ll share them quickly here and then it’s time to focus on the here and now!

First trip to South America! The photo is of me with my adult “kids” Alexandra and Nate as we prepared to hike in Southern Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park. Patagonia was breathtaking — unusual and magical. I also enjoyed the parts of northern Chile that we toured and am captivated by South America.

First half-marathon! Perhaps my one and only, but who knows? I actually enjoyed myself running in the Lubec International Half Marathon back in June. I surprised myself with a better time than I’d expected and felt pretty good afterwards.

First time surfing! Yes — I tried surfing in Chile. Did not quite get to standing position, but I did catch some waves!

First e-book publication! Thanks to my husband Ed, we published a holiday story on Amazon called SANTA ON THE SIDELINES. Check it out!

First time canoeing the Allagash Wilderness Waterway! This gem of a river is in Northern Maine. My son Matt organized this trip, and all five of us paddled for four days, hit the rapids, camped in primitive sites, and had a ball.

So those are some of my “firsts” for last year… as I look ahead, I hope to finish the first draft of a book I’m writing by the end of 2017 and I vow to no longer use my phone while driving!

What are your resolutions/goals for the new year?
